Infectious Disease Modeling, Projecting Disease Spread, and Evaluating the Impact of Interventions
Abstract: Over the past decades, there has been significant progress in our understanding as well as prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. However, historically known and newly emerging infectious diseases continue to negatively impact human health and societies. There are a variety of prevention or intervention measures, with different levels of resource requirements and effectiveness, depending on where, when, and how they are implemented, considering the geographic differences, sup-population characteristics, compliance, etc., which can also change over time It is important to understand which combination of these measures would be most impactful across different metrics of interest, when and where. In this presentation we will provide examples on how quantitative methods can be used in supporting public health interventions for infectious diseases. |
