The Landelijk Netwerk Mathematische Besliskunde (LNMB) is the national network for Operations Research in the Netherlands. Since its foundation in 1987, LNMB brings together researchers, lecturers, and practitioners from universities, research institutes, and industry who share an interest in applying mathematics to decision problems in business, economics, and society.
LNMB invites nominations for the next Gijs de Leve Prize, one of the most prestigious distinctions in Dutch Operations Research. The prize is awarded for exceptional PhD research in the Mathematics of Operations Research in the Netherlands.
Supervisors of eligible PhD theses are encouraged to submit a nomination. Details about the prize, eligibility, selection criteria, required materials, and submission procedure are available on the LNMB prizes page.
LNMB coordinates the national graduate programme in Operations Research, offering advanced courses for Masters and PhD students by leading experts from the Netherlands and abroad. The network also stimulates collaboration in research and supports the exchange of ideas through conferences and special sessions. Find more about our PhD curriculum and Master courses we offer.
Founded in 1987, LNMB has become a vibrant community where the Dutch Operations Research field meets and grows. Through its annual conference and various initiatives, it continues to strengthen the connections between universities, research groups, and the professional world.
Each year, LNMB organises a national conference that brings together the Dutch Operations Research community. The conference features invited talks by international speakers, presentations by the LNMB PhD students, and special sessions. The conference serves as a meeting place for researchers, students, and practitioners and the annual meeting of NGB. Information about the upcoming conference and past editions can be found here.
Questions about courses, conferences, or LNMB activities can be directed to the LNMB secretariat or your institution's representative on the LNMB board. Contact details and current board members are listed on this website.
From February 2026, LNMB offers the option to receive all announcements published in our news directly by email. You may also choose to receive only announcements about open positions. Registration is possible via the form below.
