On-line methods: Challenges for OR in a
real-time world Jointly organized
by the
Landelijk Netwerk Mathematische Besliskunde (LNMB) and the Nederlands
Genootschap Besliskunde (NGB), Conference Center “De Werelt”, in
Lunteren, on January 15, 2004. The Landelijk Netwerk Mathematische Besliskunde (LNMB) and the Nederlands Genootschap voor Besliskunde (NGB) jointly organize the one-day seminar “On-line methods: Challenges for OR in a real-time world”, in Conference Center “De Werelt” in Lunteren, on January 15, 2004. The seminar is the sixth in a series of annual seminars, following the previous successful seminars on “Operations Research & Enterprise Resource Planning” (1999), “Operations Research in Financial Management” (2000), “E-commerce & Operations Research” (2001), “Capacity management – How operations research models support decision makers” (2002) and “New developments in Operations Research software” (2003). The world becomes more dynamic, as can be seen in for example logistics and telecommunication. Therefore, decision support methods need to adapt. In this seminar, speakers will reflect on theory and practice of on-line methods that incorporate the arrival of new information in their planning and scheduling schemes. In the morning session, introductions are given to the topic, both from a practical and a theoretical point of view. In the afternoon session, a number of contributions are given on practical and methodological aspects of online methods. These may include optimisation techniques, agent technology, and applications in a diversity of areas. The contributions in the morning and afternoon should raise some questions concerning the variety of methodologies and application possibilities of online methods. For this reason, we have organised a panel discussion. The conference language is English. To participate at the seminar, please go to Registration Seminar and send the form before January 5, 2004. The conference fee is 75 Euro for LNMB and NGB members, and 125 Euro for others. You will receive an invoice after your registration form has been received. The conference fee covers lunch, coffee, tea, and the drinks.
